Hello,
I installed, very recently, VL 7.0 GOLD. My printer is HP Photosmart C4180 all in one, so I ran hp-setup and configured it all right, but I noticed that hp-toolbox is not present (while hplip is present twice (why ?).
Can you let me know how can I install hp-toolbox? Without it I cannot manage my printer.
Here you have my terminal ouput about this utilty:

vector:/~
alberto:$ slapt-get --search hplip

hello, here you have the output of hp-check:

vector:/~
alberto:$ hp-check

HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.11.10)
Dependency/Version Check Utility ver. 14.3

Copyright (c) 2001-9 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP
This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
This is free software, and you are welcome to distribute it
under certain conditions. See COPYING file for more details.

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Saving output in log file: hp-check.log

Initializing. Please wait...

reportlab is in gslapt package manager. I just looked to be sure.

Thank you,
I installed reportlabs and now hp-check returns with no errors, but if you launch hp-toolbox you obtain the same error:
.........................................................................................
.........................................................................................
File "/usr/share/hplip/toolbox.py", line 246, in <module>
    from ui4.devmgr5 import DevMgr5
ImportError: No module named ui4.devmgr5

I wonder where is the problem.

Googling your error I read at

https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/97697

Quote
yes, python-reportlab is not mandatory package for HPLIP.
This package required only for fax cover page support.
Other functionalities should work without this package.
Most of the distros ship this package by default.

to launch hp-toolbox system need to have python-qt and dbus.

Thank you for supporting HPLIP,
Naga Samrat Chowdary, Narla.

So, I seem to miss python-qt4-dbus. Am I right? If so, where can I find it? I haven't found it in the VL 7.0 repositories.

You have dbus

Just run the
Code:
updatedb
as root in terminal. Then run
Code:
locate dbus

Also. On my splash screen. dbus shows as the first thing loading.

Yeah, python-qt does not show in gslapt.  I am kinda out of my depth here on exactly how to get your printer working. Your printer has been around since 2007 and should just be supported out of the box.

Is there a way to uninstall hplip and all its dependencies and, than install them all again?
