Splix for Samsung ML-2525 for VLocity 7 (64)
« on: November 01, 2012, 10:17:47 am »

If some kind, generous, and gifted soul could work this into the VL repos, you would be even cooler and more awesome than you currently are. How's that for motivation?  :D

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Steve,
Hope your still around.  I have packaged Splix for 64 and 32 bit repositories (along with something called jbigkit that splix required.  Can you test and let me know how it goes.  I don't have a samsung printer.

Oh, anyone else with a Samsung printer may have use for this as well.

@ stretchedthin --

Went to Gslapt & couldn't find Splix and/or jbigkit. I've enabled the default vl repos along with the non-default unstable repo. Did I miss one?

Regards,

Steve

Yes, testing is the repository you should enable it is 4 or 5 down after patches.  Also, while your in there uncheck unstable, anything in there is just bad news.

Here are some more gslapt tips and tricks.

@ stretchedthin

First off, thanks so much for your efforts!  ;D

Enabled the testing repo & did find Splix. Tried to install the package & it said the dependency on jbigkit hadn't been met. I continued with the install but the ML-2525 driver version still wasn't available.

Hi jbitkit is required.  I had it in there, but make not have "triggered" it
You should be able to uninstall splix and get the jbigkit dependency when you reinstall splix.
Now, if it does not include a driver for your particular samsung. That's a shame, but maybe it will help someone else.

Hi stretch,

Just installed splix and configured for my pc. It printed a test page just fine. Thanks for this.
Using a samsung SCX 4500.

OK, that works for me.  I'm moving the package from testing to extra.
