Xine doesn't work properly, and in others players i can't play video or music.

Hi! Recently installed Vector Linux 7 Standard, and i'm having a few issues. Xine worked fine the first days but now it just freezes when i click play, pause, >> or <<, even if i want to quit pressing q, so i have to kill the process with Htp. I can't play anything. The other players don't work (I open the files and they play nothing). Maybe a codecs issue, but doesn't Vector already include all of them? And i really don't know what is wrong with xine...

Did you do a system upgrade? Is the testing repo enabled?

I agree with bigpaws this is probably a problem with a component being upgraded.

What of the other video players mplayer, umplayer, gnome-mplayer?
My xine has been out of commision for some time now, but I have not paid it any attention as I've been able to use the other players without issue.
I tended not to use xine even on the fresh install, just did not play as many codecs as umplayer or others.

If you have not done so already you can try xine-ui 0.99.7 it will upgrade the xine-lib, but it will also install pulseaudio.
If like me you are not a fan of pulseaudio on your system, you can ...
removepkg pulseaudio
at the command line as root to be rid of it, without any real problems.

Already had the new version of the UI installed, the first time i started Xine after that it worked fine, second time didn't. Didn't know how to upgrade the system, but after a short search in the forums i figured out. Did slapt-get --update,
slapt-get --upgrade as root, now i'm waiting... Hope that fixes the problem.
P.D.: If i can solve the issues i would like to keep Vector as my system, but i have the need of having everything necessary to properly use the computer without internet... Is there a way to download the entire repositories to a specific directory? Are there different repos for XFCE and LXDE? (Maybe i will switch to Vector Light) What is the size of the repos?

Moving to fast.  We were not saying to upgrade the entire system, actually we were just asking questions to figure out where you were.

Without feedback on the questions we may not be able to help you at all. 
Slow down a bit and read back on the questions, and give us some insight into the state of your installation and what errors you see using the various players.

Yes, i upgraded today, but without enabling the testing repo.

What of the other video players mplayer, umplayer, gnome-mplayer?

Yes, those. The only player that works for me now is Xine (It started to work again since i upgraded everything, strange, because i already had xine updated, both lib and ui). When i try to run a video in UMPlayer (Porn, Movies, etc. Generally in H264) using the "Open With" option the program starts but it doesn't play the video. It's the same if i start the program and then load the video. Gnome MPlayer does the same thing with the music, the program starts, the music (MP3's or OGG's) doesn't play. No errors showed up.
 
 Installed VLC too form the repo and it doesn't even start. My system: AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual 5600+ 2.91GHz (But i use 32 bits version of Vector), almost 2gb of ram, NVIDIA 6150SE NForce 512mb, installed the official drivers.

Tried downloading a pack of codecs from softpedia and installed all of them in /usr/local/codecs and /usr/lib/win32 if i remember well (I copied the files and gave 755 permission with chmod, just like the guide said), but it didn't help.
 
I play Postal 2 (A game, linux native, unreal engine 2) a lot, and both, audio and video (cutscenes) worked well without doing any tweaking.

EDIT: Decided to install Vector Light with LXDE. XFCE wasn't running slow, but i wanted to be in LXDE
This time seems i can play music with "Music Player", didn't tried yet Xine for video. MPlayer (Apparently a different program from Music Player, because the other works well) won't start. Tried running it from the console and it said "mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libvpx.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
P.D.: Before doing anything, after installing, i upgraded my system with slapt-get.
P.D.2: English isn't my main language, so if i write something wrong, you know why.

Your english is fine.  For the libvpx error you are getting either downgrade one version below the top or create a symbolic link.

If you are not sure how to create a symbolic link then post the full error verbatim and I'll show you what the command would look like.

I played lots of Postal 2 at one time as well.  Lot's of Red Neck character to that game.

Actually those files that xine can't play (WMV for example), MPlayer (That thing fixed itself after updating the program, find a bit strange that it didn't automatically updated days ago when upgraded the entire system) can, while Music Player is playing fine the mp3s... So i have the multimedia issues solved

Now i have some unrelated doubts, hope you can help me again: In windows, being in whatever app/game on fullscreen mode, being the cursor captured in the app/game i could press ctrl+alt+supr, select "task manager" and return to the desktop (Sometimes i could return to the desktop pressing the windows key only)... My doubt is if i can bind some command to a key, so while playing a game which have the mouse captured i press that x key to minimize the game and return to the desktop...
Also, i'd like the screen to be locked while returning to my user session after being on another one using the "user switch" function... Is that possible?
