I installed VL 7.0 Gold on an external usb hard drive partition and use the install cd to boot into it with my Macbook Pro. (Bootloaders won't work unless I install an OSX partition along with EFI.)
It boots fine as long as I remember to include rootdelay=9 to give time for the drive to be recognized. My problem is when I select restart or shutdown it appears the systems shuts down almost instantly without going through the normal shutdown procedures; nothing appears on the screen, it goes black and 10 seconds later it shuts down.

Do I need a "shutdown delay" or something?

*OK,

Seems if I open a terminal and: su shutdown now -h the system goes through a normal shutdown. Clicking on the menu buttons in the top panel seems to turn it off prematurely.
