I just tried to run Brasero, and found that is no longer functional, and then when I tried running it from the terminal, I got the following output -

doctor:$ brasero
brasero: error while loading shared libraries: libgmime-2.4.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Please help.
Thanks.

What version do you have installed? the latest appears to be 2.3.2.1. worth upgrading perhaps or reinstalling. lib issues can occur for many reasons but for me usually the addition of a program that wanted to update a library called upon by an existing application. I use K3B at the moment, you could try the alternative. perhaps not a solution but something to consider for the moment. sorry I am not familiar with the library in question libgmime. mime stands for multipurpose internet mail extension
cheers

Had trouble with Brasero too. Removed and installed K3B. it's still one of the best, even with the klibs.

Have you tried reinstalling via gslapt, the package manager may correct dependency issues. I just installed brasero with no issues and opened the program but this is vl7light and I think you have vl7 std now so may not be relative.

Don't think 7.0 standard is the problem.  That's what I run and the gui loads fine.

There are a couple of presumably minor errors shown when running from the command line which do not seem to cause problems, as follows:

Quote
vector:/~
johwhi:$ brasero
/usr/share/themes/MurrinaBlue/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:83: Murrine configuration option "scrollbar_color" is no longer supported and will be ignored.
/usr/share/themes/MurrinaBlue/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:83: Murrine configuration option "hilight_ratio" will be deprecated in future releases. Please use "highlight_shade" instead.
GLib-GIO-Message: Using the 'memory' GSettings backend.  Your settings will not be saved or shared with other applications.

I agree, the package is working fine, locator said he found it had stopped working, thus it installed and worked but now gives an error for libgmime a message creating and parsing library. I am under the understanding that reinstalling via gslapt will check for missing depends and hopefully fix the issue.

Locator, I just think you need to downgrade gmime to 2.4.20.

There was an upgrade to gmime introduced to the repo, but it is not compatible (as this thread indicates) with anything built against the original gmime.

Little research indicates there is no real advantage to the new gmime, so I will take it out of repo.

This problem is not the same in 64bit so I will not be removing it there.
