If choice matters it must be easy to make the choice perhaps.

The default browser could open to VL-docs with the bookmarks toolbar "on" and the link to the forum and tutorials on it in view.

The docs should be reversed with the bottom at the top for quick view of links.if it is open it is already installed so the top can really be the bottom.and docs should not refer to vl6.

alternatively have a single desktop icon be a quick start guide to connecting to the internet (critical), change wallpaper, add icons, add apps to tray, and dock, use gslapt, login to alternative gui. the simple suff many take for granted..this single icon not only shows that icons are possible on the desktop but shows how to do it plus and keeps the desktop a little cleaner. try it in the center of the screen.

I like the idea of showing what is easily available. perhaps add "try this" to the top of the quick start and auto hide the dock. it is fun to discover but a little prompting helps. The screenshots show all but the desktop does not have to if it is easily established.

although this is extra work and may be already done in soho, the live cd is what most people will see first so the first impression is critical. simple and fun.

Just a thought (or two lol)
cheers
