usernames are currently not displayed in login screen. ran gdmsetup and added users to login window preferences in user tab but no go.

How do I make usernames visible or select which usernames are visible at login. Checking out laptop tracking software and need to setup up dummy account to allow potential thief to login.

Thanks

You have to change the gdm theme to one that supports the listing.

gdmsetup -> local
set style to "Themed with face browser"
Select the "Happy gnome with browser" or "STD" theme

Click "Users" tab
select "Include all users from /etc/passwd"

Close the config.
Log out and back in... you should see the face browser.

That seems to have done the trick. Initially the "local" tab in the window configurator seemed to have some of the text mashed up like  some video artifact problem but it was only on that tab.

Now all seems good.

Thanks
