SOLVED Bad passwords
« on: December 18, 2012, 01:59:20 pm »
Got tired of XP getting ever slower on Compaq Presario 700 with 384MB and 40GB hd, so I installed VL-7 std.  Every thing proceeded satisfactorily until it rebooted.  It doesn't like the password for either root or user.

Do I have to re-install (about 4 hours) or is there a way to only change the passwords.  In addition to the install disk, I have VL7-Std-Live and VL7-Light install cds.

you can boot any of those disks and mount the root partition, then chroot into it and change the passwd that way.

Thanks Uelsk

Once I corrected root and rebooted, discovered the user hadn't been created.
