Can anyone out there recommend a good quality, easy to use DVD ripper for Vector Linux 7.0?

My preferred method is the command line utility "vobcopy".
Some DVD's use trickery which confuses rippers. In those cases, I've had good luck with mplayer. It takes a little more work, you need to find the title which is the main movie, then dump it to one big mpeg file. Something like "mplayer dvd://2 --dumpstream --dumpfile bigmoviefile.mpeg".

k9copy might work. It's generally used for copying a dvd in the same way that Windows dvdshrink does (IE, compressing so that it fits onto a regular dvd). But it also will rip a file into either an avi or mpeg file (I think mpeg-4 and mpeg-2 respectively.) avi is generally a better choice since it's smaller. You usually need to select the largest title from the dvd, along with its corresponding audio file, and it will generate a movie file from this.

No need to shout. Some of us consider typing "vobcopy -m" in a terminal to be simple. As far as GUI program for ripping discs, I have found makemkv to be the easiest. Well worth 50 bucks. http://makemkv.com/

dvd-rip is now in the testing repo. Updated transcode with more codecs enabled fixed issue hata_ph was referring too. Please help us discover if there are any issues we have not seen and report here after testing. hint .. under the Video codec tab I had to change to xvid4, before I could rip all the way through. While ripping was faster than thoggen or k3b it was about 40 minutes longer than HandBrake. http://forum.vectorlinux.com/index.php?topic=17236.0

Think I gave this link on another thread, but here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HS-_hxy4iywIt's a tutorial on gslapt. Just look for the bit where you go to sources tab and check the testing box, then update. Really that simple.
