When I decided to switch to Linux about ten years ago, VL was one of the first distros I tested. Although I liked VL, I didn't fully understand Linux. After testing one distro after another for about a year, I eventually settled on Zenwalk, and later PCLinuxOS.
Last week I purchased a Thinkpad R51 for tinkering. PCLOS was more than I needed, but Zenwalk's current version wouldn't load (pae issues). So I tried VL 7.0. It worked straight out of the box, which was really nice. I'm glad I re-discovered VL.
