What's a good markup/BBC editor to create, edit, and preview forum posts that might take a while to write?

I'm thinking mainly of HOWTOs, etc. that might be better with minor illustration, tables, or charts. Otherwise, shorter is usually better (I'll chant that 'til it sinks in) and using the online editor is fine.

Come to think of it, I request a "sandbox" forum that's regularly dumped so users can see and test features more realistically. Note I said "request", not "expect" Smiley . I "expect" that whoever might set that up could better use the time elsewhere, probably on something VL needs more. Had to mention it, though.

Just write everything up in a text editor or word processing program and add the applicable bbcode when you paste it to the forum. Most forums have hard limits to the length of a post, so there shouldn't be much of an issue of taking forever to go through and mark things up with the appropriate tags.
