New claws-mail building at this time.  New build is an update to the latest version along with the addition of several plugins.

Build LINK = http://vlcore.vectorlinux.com/buildbot/builders/claws-mail/builds/5

It should be in the untested repo soon

Pita,
you should boot into fluxbox or awesome  , then claw-mail runs stable without crash at all.....

curren xfce4 of vl7.1 's still buggy

Good tip. I'd like to try awesome, but it seems complicated compared to fluxbox (which I'm using now).

Problems have arisen I'm afraid. I'm getting a "system has no X clients file" message when I log in and am then being dumped back to xterm. I'm having to resort to typing in "fluxbox" in order to have a window manager.

New claws-mail building at this time.  New build is an update to the latest version along with the addition of several plugins.

Build LINK = http://vlcore.vectorlinux.com/buildbot/builders/claws-mail/builds/5

It should be in the untested repo soon

Installed it. Now Configuration>Preferences for current account>OK hangs claws-mail.  After 1 minute it closes on its own.

Here is some output when started from terminal after clicking OK:
Code:
claws.c:102:Starting Claws Mail version Claws Mail 3.9.2
utils.c:1874:using default rc_dir /home/user/.claws-mail
main.c:2336:Using control socket
/tmp/claws-mail-1000/07da273a29fce511292c29c599b89015
main.c:2430:another Claws Mail instance is already running.

ps aux
Code:
user   4141  1.3  1.1 411052 22912 pts/0    S    11:53   0:00 claws-mail
user   4145  0.0  0.3 313316  7336 pts/0    S    11:53   0:00 claws-mail --debug --crash 4141,11,claws-mail

terminal:
Code:
** (process:4145): WARNING **: Socket IO timeout
** (process:4145): WARNING **: [11:54:54] Socket IO timeout.

Claws Mail is already running on display .

I then installed in /usr/local/ the version of claws-mail-9.2 I am using in my present working box flawlessly.
The identical problem turns out in VL as with the newly installed one.

To mention yet, crash or hang does not happen when Apply is pressed
and no difference in fluxbox or awful.

Not sure how you got the trash for the bar but the weather works, nice

http://files.myopera.com/dsl-o/albums/550557/7144b.png

this is bo44 32 bit.iso

smooth install via gui advanced, reboot shows three screens prior to boot splash and one prior to login screen.

logins appear fine, logout and shut downs , user and root ok

same app issues as already posted..screenshot from bar, leafpad saves,

later.. yes, I know, just a look.

I am going to copy paste from leafpad and add a pic of what happens if I save a text file and copy paste it to another first and save that as well.

no issue to copy this type here but saves not so much

EDIT: added gedit and it works fine, played dvd full with umplayer.

 looking good Smiley

im on 7.1  .43 btw
when changing menu > settings > appearence > style  some of the options (e.g. xfce-dusk) when set i lose the ability to see the text typed inside a web browser (ff, seamonkey) i can see the typed text in the address bar, but not in google search field, not on pastebin, not in login fields, and the like. when using raleigh i can see the text appropriately

Ya, I can second that.....dusk is the only dark one and it is so dark things disappear, perhaps there are add ons that are a compromise or it can be edited.

wigums the files are gtk2 and located in /usr/share/themes. the files could be edited if you are versed in color numbering but several sites offer downloadable themes. xfce-look and gnome-look.orgs for example, it would be easier to download formats that you can simply place in the folder or unzip and copy. If I find any good ones I will post a link in the lounge.

wigums will post this one here so you find it I guess

the theme london smoke does not show in window manager but I chose blendwell and it looks ok

http://files.myopera.com/dsl-o/albums/550557/vl7144dtb.png

this is a dark theme but perhaps not what you want. you can search the xfce-look site here (i was on pg63 so check that)

http://xfce-look.org/index.php?xsortmode=new&logpage=0&xcontentmode=15x100x420&page=62

and find the london smoke theme here

http://xfce-look.org/content/show.php/London+Smoke?content=137755

cheers

would like to see the trash applet for the bar and gltext screen saver which is a date and time saver for 7.1. the current bata does not include but previous bata had saver and 7.0 has trash.

a functional darker theme would also be nice, I like the london smoke from xfce-look.org

bata 44 is looking good, desktop folder is still on the default desktop, apps are not yet configured, I still have the leafpad issue but gedit seems to have pasified me.

curious about why I see screens prior to splash..is blank screen not possible in these early stages.

All in good time, I understand, just observations while playing with the bata to see how it works so far.

On booting 2 penguins show at top of screen indicating that dual core
processor is accessed. However, when loged-in only one CPU is working
as shown with htop and gkrellm.

For a quick workaround until a fix filters down from kernel.org, you can add this to the end of rc.local:

echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/online
