For those of you wanting to watch TV and/or video tapes with Vector Linux7.0, I can recommend a GREAT bit of software that will allow for just that - it's called "TV-Viewer", and it can be found here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/tv-viewer/

and the instructions for it can be found here:

http://tv-viewer.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page

and in the "readme" file that comes with it. I have found that it is a LOT easier to install and use then MythTV (no external server is needed), and yes, it does everything I want it to do as well, so all in all, I was pleasantly surprised with it Smiley.

From the project's website:
"TV-Viewer is a frontend to watch and record TV. It is designed for analog TV cards working with the ivtv, pvrusb2, or cx18 driver and others with a built-in hardware MPEG-2 encoder. It uses the Tk toolkit. DVB support is planned in the future. "

Any hint whether it's useful for other cards (i.e. those that don't MPEG encode) as well?

I've seen that viewer apps for those that do MPEG-2 encoding are hard to come by, so thanks for finding this and sharing the info.

All I know is that it works for the tuner card that I am using now.
