I tried to run it from terminal mode and got the following output:

doctor:$ mplayer
mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libsmbclient.so.0: cannot open sh

Any suggestions?

This might also be caused by installing an updated samba package. Suddenly there is no longer a libsmbclient.so.0, but maybe a libsmbclient.so.1, or something like that. Often a simple symlink will fix this, if the library calls are somewhat compatible.

Something like this:
Code:
ln -s /usr/lib/libsmbclient.so.1 /usr/lib/libsmbclient.so.0
or:
Code:
ln -s /usr/lib64/libsmbclient.so.1 /usr/lib64/libsmbclient.so.0

Of course, first do an ls to see which version of the library is actually there:
Code:
ls /usr/lib64/libsmbclient.so.*
