[ SOLVED ] Help with fonts, please.
« on: August 13, 2013, 10:47:14 am »

I am currently using Vector Linux 7.0 as my operating system, and I recently tried to install some Windows True-Type Fonts unibg the following method:

copy your fonts to /usr/share/fonts/TTF then run fc-cache -f as root in terminal.
restart X

and what happened was that the fonts in question DO show up as being installed, the problem is that those fonts are unreadable, unless I log on as "root", in which case they function correctly, otherwise they show up as what looks like a string little empty squares when I go to preview them. Any suggestions as to how to go about resolving this issue? Thanks in advance.

Shot in the dark:
chmod +r /usr/share/fonts/TTF/*

Should have copied that way normally, but who knows?
