I'm using an install of VLL 7.0 - Openbox with FBpanel
One of the niggling issues I had was my computer not shutting down when issuing a range of poweroff commands.
I found a thread regarding a similar issue with Slackware and put append="acpi=force" in my lilo.conf then ran /sbin/lilo.
Poweroff now works flawlessly.

However since doing this I notice that when booting the loading of the avahidconf module always fails.
What is avahidconf and how do I get it working again?

I have a Gigabyte GA7DX+ motherboard with XP2200+ and 1GB ram.

Many thanks

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avahi_%28software%29

To be honest, I don't know of anything actively using that daemon on Light.

Thanks.  Should have searched for avahi rather than avahidconf, far more enlightening!
It definitely looks like something that can be safely disabled.
