The brazen new Vector 7 desktop

Not unlike the Beatles white album this powerful operating system appears as little more than an image with a logo and the time of day.

Touching the top of the screen however reveals a stunning customizable bar that provides access to your favorite applications via categorized menus, headed by one click applications which indicate the category. A scroll-able volume, plus multiple desktop and open application switcher, among others.

clicking open the file manager offers access to your home directory with folders to store all your files, access your dives and includes several icons to help you with your system. You may now notice the item appear in a traditioal display next to the logo at the bottom of the screen.

In addition to all this, a right click on the desktop provides a creation and settings menu which also includes access to your applications. the settings menu offers a means to add classic default icons like trashcan and change the wallpaper.

Although the system may appear stark at first sight it is blazing fast and powerful. One click of the logo and the entire system is at your fingertip.

The vector motto" when choice matters",  has never been more clearly exemplified. kept simple, fast and stable, this desktop offers all the old familiar styles in a new and exciting customization of the xfce desktop environment.

Vector linux 7.0 also includes cairo-dock which can be customized along with the xfce bar to look like a mac desktop or as seen here simply provide the weather.

Thanks rbistolfi

I should mention in addition to xfce, Vector 7 also includes fluxbox. Its ability to use a screensaver as wallpaper and the available dock apps make beautiful simplicity.

Kind words, Thanks ddval. I feel less worthy of them but do like this customization of xfce.

I really like this one:

http://files.myopera.com/dsl-o/albums/550557/V7.1b.png

It should become the VL trademark or servicemark or whatever.  Then it would always be VL 7.  VL could never move on to VL 8 or 9.  Just VL 7.  But  V7.1 could be followed by VL 7.2 and on and on, to, say VL 7.1842.  Should be long enough for most of us.  In other words, VL could be named anything anyone wanted so long as it was VL7 (with your image of that).

But then I am wrong a lot.

This stylized V is simple and could easily become a logo if it is not already, I did a quick google when I made It and Nil but logos are many.

It would only be good timing if the V7 version was a success, years later the v7 would be fondly remembered and the new eagerly awaited. the logo being a consistent reminder of quality. some companies make millions on a logo that once produced quality yet the product is questionable.

Vector however already has a logo and it is unlikely anything I create will be used by anyone but me..lol

however I could be wrong, If you want one of the pics links are here

Added the menu to the upper panel and resized to extend the panel length for easy reading of app descriptions

added a Vector forum button to the other side for one click forum access, it also balances the panel

this allows the open applications buttons on the panel below to be much thinner

weather can be added to the right of the clock

with the switcher already on the upper panel the lower panel could be removed

I prefer the v shape created by the lower menu button and its function there myself

It is so easy to move things around I guess it does not really matter

Lets say a fellow wants to add one of your images to his xfce4 wallpaper.  How would one accomplish this task? I don't see a way to change the wallpaper.

click the image on the site for the largest view, right click and save the image to your home directory or directory of choice

choose desktop from the settings menu and click the + sign under the current wallpaper window to add a wallpaper

choose your home directory or location you downloaded to and choose the wallpaper, you will see a preview, click add

If you want the wallpaper added to the system, as root copy the image to /usr/share/wallpaper
