[solved] efax problems
« on: September 05, 2013, 04:52:34 pm »
Hello.  I have efax installed from the extra repository, and I have the frontend efax-gtk installed from slackfind.  With this, I've been able to successfully send faxes.  But today I tried to receive one, and it had problems.  Here's the feedback:

Code: [Select]
ed out after command: +FKS
efax-0.9a: 20:12:50 remote ID -> "LAW SOCIETY OF UPPER"
efax-0.9a: 20:12:50 session 196lpi 14.4kbps 8.5"/215mm  any   1D    -     -  20ms
efax-0.9a: 20:14:02 received 1790 lines with 1790 errors
efax-0.9a: 20:14:23 finished - invalid modem response
efax-0.9a: 20:14:23 opened /dev/ttyS2
efax-0.9a: 20:14:25 using U.S. Robotics 56K FAX INT V5.22.45U.S. Robotics 56K FAXOKOK in class 2.0
efax-0.9a: 20:14:26 waiting for activity
GLib-GIO-Message: Using the 'memory' GSettings backend.  Your settings will not be saved or shared with other applications.

I'm not sure what this means.  But trying to print it, I get a rough looking image that's indecipherable.  I likely should just buy a real fax.  But, if anyone can assist, I'd appreciate it.

Okay, duckduckgo brought me the answer.  In the Settings, I had the Modem Class set on "auto".  Changing this to "Class 1" fixed it.  So, I now can receive faxes.
