UMplayer to SMplayer
« on: October 23, 2013, 12:10:13 pm »

This UMplayer app seems to be going to it's grave as far as development goes. When you start the app, you are prompted about this and recomended to go with the newer SMplayer. So far I have not found SMplayer in the 7.1 repo.

P.S.
I've added the vlcore to gslapt and I can toggle it on/off as needed. If packages makes it there when I am checking for things, I can test.

Update from our work in IRC yesterday.

I've installed the .49 iso, did the updates (see my package tested post on those packages). Added all of the SMPlayer packages to be installed.

UMPlayer has sound with the .mp4 video file, MPlayer and SMPlayer do not.

Just try B0.49 64bit and notice alsa audio output is missing from the mplayer. you have to oss audio output to have sound on mplayer
While alsa audio output is available for mplayer in b0.49 32bit...will report this issue on the 7.1 testing thread

I have build MPlayer-1.1.1 for 7.1 that include alsa and others optional drivers as show below...

Quote
Install prefix: /usr
  Data directory: /usr/share/mplayer
  Config direct.: /etc/mplayer

  Byte order: little-endian
  Optimizing for: Runtime CPU-Detection enabled

  Languages:
    Messages/GUI: en
    Manual pages: en
    Documentation: en

  Enabled optional drivers:
Input: dvdnav(internal) ftp pvr tv-v4l2 tv librtmp cddb cdda libdvdcss(internal) dvdread(internal) bluray vcd dvb networking
Codecs: libvpx libschroedinger x264 xvid libopencore_amrwb libopencore_amrnb ffmpeg(internal) qtx real xanim win32 faad2 faac libdca libmpeg2(internal) mpg123 mp3lib(internal) libtheora libgsm speex tremor(internal) twolame libmad OpenJPEG
Audio output: alsa pulse oss v4l2 sdl mpegpes(dvb)
Video output: v4l2 matrixview opengl sdl pnm jpeg mpegpes(dvb) fbdev xvidix cvidix dga vdpau xv x11 xover yuv4mpeg md5sum tga

  Disabled optional drivers:
Input: vstream radio tv-v4l1 tv-dshow live555 nemesi smb
Codecs: libdirac crystalhd libdv musepack liba52 toolame liblzo gif
Audio output: sun openal jack nas esd arts ivtv dxr2

But since some drivers are copyrighted and cause legal action in some country so maybe some might want to double check on it
