xscreensaver
« on: December 15, 2013, 06:25:51 am »

I note that the gl savers have been removed from xscreen saver in 7.1.

I like the gltext saver as it had an option to run as the date and time.

I copied it from 7.0 but it does not have the standard options.

I can click advanced and add: -text '%A%n%d %b %Y%n%r' -no wander -spin y but the saver runs slow and choppy

I added -delay 20700 but no diff, added pyopengl thinking it was missing something for gl to function

it worked fine on this machine with 7

so did I not add something or do they just not work well with 7.1 or do I need to build xscreensaver with some added feature?

curious and missing my clock saver.

decided to try uninstalling the xscreensaver and added the one from jwz.org. it installed fine and includes gltext with settings dialog however it is just as slow.

I checked xorg and load "glx" exists, libglx.so is in extensions. I did notice if I type glxinfo in a terminal I got error for libglew 1.9 so downgraded and no longer get error but no change.

removed pkg and reinstalled xscreensaver from repository and upgraded glew. total waste of time..lol

good reason not to include glsavers I guess but curious what the actual problem is.
