How do you cope with high resolution displays?
« on: January 04, 2014, 03:47:55 pm »

High resolution displays, and Home Theatre PC's present a similar problem: Things get to small for comfortable viewing. On my HTPC I spent a lot of time tweaking KDE3 by increasing font sizes and whatever else could be scaled up, so that it is readable from the couch.

Recently I set up a laptop with a 14' screen at 1920x1080 resolution. Beautiful display, but only young eyes could see well enough to use it at default settings. After much trial and error I found that KDE4 allows you to force higher dpi settings, which scales the desktop in a uniform manner. The result is quite good without having to tweak a lot of separate settings.

Anyone else dealt with this issue, and have tips to share?

Stay poor like me. You'll have nothing but bargain basement stuff and won't need to worry about those fancy toys. LOL

Finally tested that, and I'm duly impressed with the result. Thanks!  ;D
