Does vasm firewall allow bit-torrent to occur?  I ask because I have the vasm firewall running and tried unsuccessfully to download something via bitTorrent.  I got the following feedback (using aria2):
Code:
vector:/~/dwhelper/bankdoc
mark:$ aria2c -T OhCanada.torrent

It never began downloading.  I'm not sure if this is due to there not being any seeds, or if it's a problem with the firewall and ports on my end.  If the latter, then how can I rectify this?

Most likely, you need to open the port in the firewall.

Thanks for the response.  I was looking at the choices given by vasm (see screenshot).  Which one would I open?

As far as I know, none of those options will open the necessary ports for Bit Torrent. You'll most likely need to set up a custom rule within the firewall settings itself.

It appears that the first torrent I was trying failed simply because there were no seeds.  I am now downloading another one which works well.  I suspect that I'm not uploading anything (IE, I'm not seeding the file myself for others) due to the firewall.  Or maybe I am.  I'm not sure.  Anyway, I am able to download torrents (with aria2) anyway.
