to enter desktop, has to type startx always.....
it's really buggy.

Why not just use unetbootin?  That's how I installed it.

could you paste the exact commands you are using? Looks like you are trying to execute a non executable file.
Unetbootin works for me as well, btw.
Others know better but I think the recommended way to create an installable image using a recent iso is using dd.

Hi All,
Thanks for your responses, was a little concern that the forum might have been off.

I tried the following:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkbZs8VVGRk

in addition I tried unetbootin but it stops as the last step

Nothing works using VL64-7.1-STD-RC2.2.4.iso.

Regards,
dan

Partition the stick. Create at least one 1G-or-so partition of the type 0x0c "W95 FAT 32 (LBA)". Mark that partition active. If you have room for only one partition, use partitioning anyway.

If you're using VL, be sure you have the latest version of Unetbootin from the repos.

Code: [Select]
mkdosfs -v /dev/sdb1Naturally, you'll plug in the actual partition for "sdb1" if that's not it.

Mount the partition, and then try Unetbootin. If you need to retry after that, ERASE or reformat the partition beforehand to save a lot of Unetbootin run-time.

No idea whether this repeats what was in the video. Can't view it right now due to bandwidth.

BTW, RC2.2.6 is out and initially looks good.

Where do you download the test ISO?  Thanks

I have VL64-7.1-STD-RC2.2.4.iso, but can't remember where I found it.  Thanks

http://vlcore.vectorlinux.com/pkg/untested/veclinux-7.1/iso/

A reminder here:
If you have a fairly recent ISO, you may want to take advantage of the .delta files. That'll save download time. If you haven't looked, the filename of the .delta file explains what it does. Download the delta to the same directory as the previous ISO and issue:
xdelta patch filename-here.delta

Thanks, installed from roarde 's link.  The ibiblio.org doesn't seem to be updated in months.  Everything seems to be working and looking good.

Thank you very much for the feedback, jsalpha2. :)

That ibiblio link is a mirror of VL package repositories. It does not include "real time" development files or current test releases. The VL 7.2 repo part has been started because a few things are being assembled and tested, and those need a package repo to work with.

I cannot get VL64 2.2.6 to install on my USB stick.

Is there a live cd option?

I tried unetbootin, this works but once booted it operates exactly like the dvd and boots to the vlocity installer?

I also burned a DVD and the installer stops at the very last step when installing to the USB stick

Any Ideas?
