What is the Linux equivalent (if any) for Visual BASIC and /or Visual C/C++?

Locator,

You can write C or C++ code in Vector with any text editor or IDE you like. There are many of them available, you would have to try them and pick one. The QT tools are really good and its a very popular platform for C++ development. I think you should have Geany already installed if you are using 7.1. GCC should be already installed for compiling your source code.
For BASIC, I never really used any, but there are some implementations. Gambas is one you can install and use easily. There is also freebasic and kbasic, the first one is in the repo.

I know about the text-only versions, but what about the visual ones?

You mean as opposed to the braille versions?   ;D

Visual Basic and C++ are tightly integrated with Windows. If you want to develop for that platform, you'd probably be better off using Windows tools. There is this one for mono though: http://monodevelop.com/

I'm looking for a Linux-based GUI program that will allow me to create applications and other types of software for Linux operating systems. Any suggestions?

Locator,

Many of the programs I pointed out to you are GUI based, actually all of them but GCC. If you mean a program for designing interfaces, try QT Designer. Gambas includes a GUI for interface design as well.
Maybe you can provide us with an example of an app you want to create and we can provide more specific help.

Both 7.0 and 7.1 repos have glade3. When searching with GSlapt, note that regular expression syntax is used rather than shell-type globbing. So if you want to search for "glade[plus-any-other-characters]", it's 'glade.*' rather than just 'glade*'. Note the dot.

I noticed that it is installed for Vector Linux 7.0. Now how do I go about using it?
