I was able to install VL7.1 RC onto my computer, but when I tried to install my USB printer, it couldn't see it (yes. it was connected and turned on). And just for the record my printer is an HP Deskjet 1000.

Well, after downloading VL 7.1 RC2, I decided to return to using Vector Linux 7.0. The reason: When I tried to install software from the repositories, I encountered checksum errors of one form or another with practically every other other program that I tried to install (using GSlapt)   Angry.

That's really odd.  I'm running VL7.1 RC2 and I am not getting checksum errors.  Maybe as I install more software I'll see what you see.  Was that the 64-bit or 32-bit version?  Did you do do both an update and an upgrade with slapt-get or in gslapt to make sure you had the latest bugfixes?

The 32-bit version. And I used whatever version of GSlapt came with VL 7.1 RC2, . And as I have mentioned in other forum postings, my USB mouse pointer keeps freezing on me, fortunately I was able to correct that problen with a "temporary fix", but even so, when I try to log in using my USB keyboard the courser moves but no text appears when I type anything.
