[ SOLVED ] Vector linux 7.0 won't print PDF files.
« on: July 10, 2014, 03:32:24 pm »
I am trying to print a PDF file, using Acrobat Reader, but after I go through all the "hoops" to get it to print, nothing happens, and yet I can print every other type of file with no problems whatsoever. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Have you try print the pdf files via command line?

But I want to print PDF files from within Acrobat reader. Now how do I go about doing that?

From googling your problem it is either an incorrect path
to the printer or printer files. There is also a great chance it
is adobe reader itself.

hata_ph was trying to help you by asking that question,
you instead made an assumption of his intentions.

Be kind to those that try to help you.

You're right, and I do apologize, I should not have responded the way I did, although it was a "knee-jerk" reaction as a result of being frustrated by not being able to print PDF files, but I admit that it was wrong of me. But I would like like to know (if possible) if there is a way to remedy the problem with acrobat reader.

If only Acrobat Reader cannot print, it is not related to VL itself at all.
I can try to build acrobat reader-9.5.5 for you but i cannot garantee it will work...

Locator,

Have you answered hata_ph's question:

If so, I missed it.

I have the same version of cups and ghostscript as you, but I am not trying to print to a network printer, my printer is attached directly to my PC, And I have FINALLY figured out how to get Adobe Reader to print to my printer. What I ended up having to do is to install cups-pdf, then configure it to work with my printer, then tell Adobe Reader to print to the cups printer
