new bash exploit

there is a newly found exploit in bash

http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2014-6271

bash for 7.0 and 7.1 has been patched and they are in their respective untested repositories.
its strongly suggested that users update bash to these new versions

7.0 is  bash-4.2 "3vl70" in untested
7.1 is 4.2.048 in untested

I'm seeing updates to the updates filter down and show up in the daily cron jobs. Time for an update on VL?

For this relative newbie, could you let me know the steps to do this?

Also, I have v6.0 - are there patches for bash under this version?
