Hi all

This is my first post.
I have just downloaded VL 7.1 (both isos 32 & 64bits). I decided to make a new VM in VMWare Player in order to test the new release of VL. I took 32bit image and started the installation; it ended flawlessly but when it rebooted, an error says:

Server output:
2015-07-03_144010.png
It is clear that it says: Fatal server error, No screens found.
It seems to be an X configuration error.

It tries to load VMWare module but for some reason it fails...

After that, i tried using an xorg.conf file (I renamed the vesa example) but the error persist.
Also, I installed the 64bit ISO and the error is exactly the same.

Any ideas?

Looks like the virtual video device is not recognized. I am not familiar with VMWare, but there may be options in the settings for the virtual machine that would make it work.

Hi all
Thank you nightflier for your answer.
I dont see any options in VMware to modify unless the video resolution.
I think I could figure why all the drivers fail... but still I don't know how to fix this...  :(

Not a guaranteed fix, because I can't test this myself, but try this
Boot to text mode and log in as root, then use slapt-get to install these packages

Code: [Select]
slapt-get -u
slapt-get -i libepoxy llvm xf86-video-modesetting xf86-video-vmware
after all of that finishes up, try 'init 4' in the command (as root still)
If you see a GUI login prompt, you have succeeded... If not, post the error again.
