Hello all!

I've just installed VL on an Thinkpad X60s and I love everything about it. The only thing is, I miss the usual linux boot stuff, all the code flying past. It makes me feel cool, sad I know.

Is there anyway to enable it and just boot straight into the cli?

Thanks for any help in advance people!

During the install process, there's an option to disable the "eye candy" for boot.

Once installed, you can modify Grub to remove the animation.

Edit as ROOT and leave this line (default run level) in your /etc/inittab looking like this:

Code: [Select]
id:3:initdefault:

then reboot.

Jeez, that was quick!

Silly me for choosing automatic then. Thank you both, macondo and retired1af.

Changed that line from 4 to 3 and now rebooting. See you on the otherside!
