I find the need to click OK after inputting user name and password on the initial sign on screen (after reboot) inconvenient.  On earlier versions, after inputting username, I just pressed tab to get to password screen.  That was faster.

I probably shouldn't have said "need" as I think it probably works same as always.  But the graphic says to push the OK button after entering user name and after entering password and I find that something of a bother.  I preferred the old graphic which simply shows a blank box for username and password on one screen and assumes we know to move the cursor from one box to the other.

BTW, I used lilo rather than grub.  As is my custom.

This is a matter of personal preference.  You can change the login manager and/or theme if you'd like.  We simply cannot accommodate everyone.
But thanks for testing man.. LTNS

Excuse me.  I thought you guys were interested in improving Vector, not just finding things that don't work.  My mistake.

I have recently downloaded an tried out VL7.2-STD-A1.2 and fave found a couple of rather frustrating issues with it, firstly, the mouse and/or keyboard tends to freeze up after a few seconds of inactivity, and secondly, when I try to install my printer, a window pops up that says something about no such file or directory :(.

VL-7.2-STD-A1.2 is already running on my notebook ACER AO722.
The installation on a usb thumb drive lasted 1 hour and finished without errors.
I can use all the devices (usb, camera, sound, mic, headphones) and all the keyboard keys are functional.
I had to install the pm-utils package to be able to suspend but i can not find a workaround for sound on firefox video playback from the web.Html and flash video playback has no sound. The same soundless video if loaded on smplayer can be played with sound so the problem is neither on the hardware  nor on the driver side.

I have to click the mouse button in order to "wake it up" (simply moving it doesn't work), and yes, I have to hit a key on the keyboard to wake it up as well. Now what about the printer situation that I mentioned?

Suspend half-works.
From the xfce power manager settings i've set suspend on lid close.it works but it can't wake up the touchpad so on resume the cursor-pointer is dead.
When pm-suspend from the teminal there is no problem after wake up.

The header of the tty console has no information on which tty i'm logged in.Who can i change that?

installed VL64-7.2-STD-A1.2.iso on a usb stick using unetbootin (I don't like to risk destroying hard drive info with other program), using lilo loader and got following error when installing to my Dell Optiplex 745:

Quote
Auto Detect (Analog Input)
Cannot Display this Video Mode
Optimum resolution 1280x1024 60Hz

Install then stopped and I couldn't get past it.

Same usb stick installed A1.2 fine on my Lenovo T61.

unfortunately its these types of situtation that has lead to us not oficially
supporting unetbooten. not to mention its a 3rd party app.
this is not meant towards you but rather to unetbooten. its garbage.

while it is true that dd can hose a box it almost never happens. all you
need to do is make sure you use the correct drive (usb stick?)

can you post your /var/log/pkgtools somewhere and give us a link to it please?  I'm curious to see what all you installed.
