I'm wondering how well the Equinox Desktop Environment (EDE) works on Vector Linux. It uses FLTK instead of GTK or QT, so I'm thinking it might be a better choice than either LXDE or LXQT for old laptops with very slow hard drives and less than 1 gig of RAM.
It's not listed by gslapt for VL 7.1, but the developer's web site suggests several installation methods for Slackware:
I know VL 7.1 is NOT completely equivalent to Slackware 14.1, so I'm a little worried that following the Slackware instructions might cause problems. Has anyone tried this and if so, how does EDE compare to the other "lightweight" desktop environments? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
