Here's what I get from the downloaded file:
vector://home/ftp/pub/veclinux/packages
mscott:$ md5sum kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz
5552f99a4edf3ac45b89a3d9733dac92 kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz
Here's what's stated at the download site (
http://vlcore.vectorlinux.com/pkg/untested/veclinux-7.2/x86_64/):
6dfcda3d92eaba6f7f250ef227cdbc1c ./kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz
I tried using the "--no-md5" modifier for slapt-get but that didn't work. I will reinstall and try again (just for the fun of it).

reloaded vl-64 7.2 b1.1

First boot mouse and keyboard were "dead" (I recall the same with the first load not that I think about it) but all okay with rebooting.
Here's what I get with the 4.4.41 kernel:
root:# slapt-get -i --no-upgrade kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72

As you will note the size of the kernel package is not 7.5Mb. The contents of the file appears to be a message from my home server (ClearOS 7.2) not letting me download the file. I'll get this sorted and try again.

Now in Windows and I am able to download the file without an issue!?
Back to VL in a moment.

Well, that was it and now I've installed the 4.4.41 kernel. I'm not sure why my server would block the file while in Vector but not in Windows.
