There is a FCC problem with Channel 13 & 14:

http://kernelmag.dailydot.com/features/report/8051/the-mystery-of-wifi-channel-14/

You could use this approach:

https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/developers/Regulatory/CRDA

Hope that helps,

Bigpaws

need iw pkg  and  libnl pkg  from slackware 64 cuurent repo,
current libnl on vl7.2 test repo is old version
crda pkg can be found from slack repo..

Installed VL7.2B1.1 on my Dell GX280 (32 bit)
The gui installer still doesn't like my flat screen monitor!
Text install with XFCE4 and LILO Boot loader without a hitch.
Booted to Root and User was very good.

Thanks, guys.  This is awesome!

PS:  Screensaver insists that it is really old!

Can you tell us what version of the cups package is in mint?

Installed VL64 7.2 B1.1 without issue...need kernel sources for 4.4.39. There is an update to 4.4.41 that has the kernel sources but got this:
Code: [Select]
.-----.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
| 1/1 | Upgrading kernel4.4-4.4.39-x86_64-1vl72 using kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64 |
'-----'------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------'
ERROR: Package is corrupt: /home/ftp/pub/veclinux/packages/./kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz

Had similar issues with a few packages: wxGTK - md5sum mismatch and wxPython - package is corrupt.

Try this
Code: [Select]
slapt-get --clean; slapt-get--autoclean; slapt-get -u
Kernel packages still in untested get overwritten when updated, so you will need to update the kernel to the latest version (4.4.41 as of today)

Remember, when updating kernel packages, use the "--no-upgrade" argument to slapt-get to make sure it does not overwrite your existing kernel packages.

See http://vlcoredocumentation.readthedocs.io/en/latest/manuals/kernel-upgrade.html

Attempted cleanup as suggested and still got the "corrupt package" error for the kernel 4.4.41 pkg. I then just downloaded the package and tried to use installpkg but no luck either.
Code: [Select]
root:# installpkg kernel4.4-*
.-----.-----------------------------------------------------------------------.
| 1/4 | Installing kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz                |
'-----'-----------------------------------------------------------------------'
ERROR: Package is corrupt: kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz

That is odd.  Can you check the md5 signatures of the packages against the files provided in the same place where you downloaded them from?

Here's what I get from the downloaded file:
Code: [Select]
vector://home/ftp/pub/veclinux/packages
mscott:$ md5sum kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz
5552f99a4edf3ac45b89a3d9733dac92  kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz
Here's what's stated at the download site (http://vlcore.vectorlinux.com/pkg/untested/veclinux-7.2/x86_64/):
Code: [Select]
6dfcda3d92eaba6f7f250ef227cdbc1c  ./kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz
I tried using the "--no-md5" modifier for slapt-get but that didn't work. I will reinstall and try again (just for the fun of it).

...
reloaded vl-64 7.2 b1.1
...
First boot mouse and keyboard were "dead" (I recall the same with the first load not that I think about it) but all okay with rebooting.

Here's what I get with the 4.4.41 kernel:
Code: [Select]
root:# slapt-get -i --no-upgrade kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72
Reading Package Lists...Done
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  kernel4.4
0 upgraded, 0 reinstalled, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove, 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 7.5MB of archives.
After unpacking 11.3MB of additional disk space will be used.
1/1 Get http://vlcore.vectorlinux.com/pkg/untested/veclinux-7.2/x86_64/ kernel4.4 4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72 [7.5MB]...Done
Failed to download: MD5 checksum mismatch, override with --no-md5
vector://home/mscott
root:# cd /home/ftp/pub/veclinux/packages/
vector://home/ftp/pub/veclinux/packages
root:# ls -l

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root    7330 Jan 17 20:52 kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz

2bbda0c941bf47a02f8f7c58ed32af78  kernel4.4-4.4.41-x86_64-1vl72.txz

As you will note the size of the kernel package is not 7.5Mb. The contents of the file appears to be a message from my home server (ClearOS 7.2) not letting me download the file. I'll get this sorted and try again.

...
Now in Windows and I am able to download the file without an issue!?
Back to VL in a moment.
...

Well, that was it and now I've installed the 4.4.41 kernel. I'm not sure why my server would block the file while in Vector but not in Windows.

It was jealous.  ;D

Possibly so.  :)
ClearOS is a spin of RHEL via Centos. It has typically been "cooperative" with whatever OS it sees (Vector, Windows, MacOS). I did note that once I had the updated kernel in place the other files that had issues (wxGTK and wxPython) downloaded and installed as they should.

I do know that VL "has been very good to me" over the years. Of late I've had relatively modern hardware which makes VL shine even brighter.
