Hello nightflier,
Thank you very much for the tip. That worked like a charm.
Now, for those who may not be familiar with the dialog that "gdmsetup" will open, here's a short How To on what to do:
>>>
To set auto login with Vector Linux 7.0 Light, in a root terminal session, enter "gdmsetup".
This will open the "Login Window Preferences" dialog.
In the "Login Window Preferences" dialog, click on the "Security" tab.
Under the "Security" tab, check the "Enable Automatic Login" checkbox. This will enable the "User:" pulldown listbox.
Click on the pulldown listbox button to open the list of users.
Select the user whose session will be auto logged into.
Click on the "Close" button to close the "Login Window Preferences" dialog.
That will do it.
>>>
Note - As gdmsetup was opening the dialog, I got the following warning message 7 times in the terminal session:
gdmsetup[2267]: Gtk-WARNING: GtkSpinButton: setting an adjustment with non-zero page size is deprecated
The dialog opened OK, and there was no problem using it.
Thanks again. vlinco..
