Well, that kinda counts me out as far as testing. I yanked my Linux drive out of the notebook to use in the desktop. Until I get another full sized drive for the desktop, the notebook will pretty much collect dust until I can put the old drive back in.

Have just installed STD RC3.  Not since B2 have I had any keyboard or mouse after reboot.  The md5sum checks out.

Can you try this workaround?

At the boot splash, hit 'e' I think it is to edit the grub boot command.

Find the line with "ro quiet splash" on it and ADD "iommu=soft" (without quotes) right after the splash word.
After that, hit F10 to continue booting and check if that gives you mouse and keyboard

Will that work with the CD install?
I have not let later installations attempt to install a boot loader as they hang during that process.

@StrayBit,

Do I understand correctly that B2 was the last one to give you kb/mouse, and since then you have not allowed a new install to configure your boot loader?

Editing the boot options as explained above applies to GRUB. If you use lilo, you enter "Tab" to get to edit mode. The bootable CD uses syslinux, which works differently. However, your problem arises not during the installation, but after the first reboot?

I use lilo to boot B2.
I use the CD to boot RC3.
