xfce menu won't work
« on: October 01, 2017, 02:02:46 pm »

Hello,

I have installed xfce4 on VL-Light-final.
I just installed xfce4-meta and got a couple of issues.

First, the keyboard was totally crazy, won't get the right layout neither with xfce own keyboard setup nor with vasm.
That I fixed editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-keyboard-layout.conf.

The second problem is that the applications button in the panel won't work.
I can access the menu clicking on the desktop and it works fine, and all the other buttons in the panel work, but the applications menu just doesn't.
Any clue?

PS I'm launching xfce with gdm by the way.

The configurations in the xfce4-meta package are plain vanilla, by intent -- for users that want to set up Xfce their own way. The VL-specific customizations come from the VL_Theme package. I wouldn't install that on Light, but you can download it with wget or so and extract it to any empty directory with tar or Xarchiver, to take a look at what some of the differences are. Don't forget about /etc/skel.

I don't know if it helps, but I got this response from th xfce forum administrator:

Installed VL 7.2 into a vm and ran into the same problem:
