Hi there, just a quick question on the progress of Vector... is a new version or update being worked on and what is the road map for it?

I'd like to know too Lyn. Vector was one of the very first distros I ever used and, bearing in mind that a lot of distros seem to have fallen by the wayside recently, I hope it still has a future.

I'm posting from VLocity 7.2 now.

Hi ALL,
Sorry for such a late response to this. I don't get much time on the computer anymore. Beside the lack of developer time, There was a hard drive crash on a server and a great deal of the VL source was lost with it.

I think it would take a handful of fresh, dedicated, hard working developers to pick up the ball with new source builds and such. If I recall correctly, development would have to start picking up as far back as release 7.0, which seems to be the most popular build released.

There was a server crash, but there was no loss of VL source.

7.2:  https://bitbucket.org/VLCore/vl72/src
7.1:  https://bitbucket.org/VLCore/vl71/src
7.0:  https://bitbucket.org/VLCore/vl70/src

Sources for VL-originated packages are still there too, and can be found by perusing the VLCore account.

Most of the loss was to the build-automation system.

Oh, my bad! I might have got it mixed up with something else?
 Anyway, thanks for the correction.
 Still need Dev's though :-)

Vector 7.0 was released in 2011 though, so it's more than seven years old now.

For that reason I don't think it's a suitable base for further development although I would like to see the "Quick Picks" back again as that was a very useful feature.
