How reliable is that counter?...
« on: May 11, 2020, 01:21:08 am »
It shows 60 guests.
Just picked at a random time, that doesn't look too bad, indicating some interest in Vector is still existing.

If it picks up(see the thread about Vector's future) I'll need to update my avatar...

Bots, search engines, etc. are all counted as "guests" when it hits the site.

So it's dead.
Too bad.
No sense dwelling on it then.

Unfortunately that appears to be the case.  The forum had more activity in the
last 40 days than the last 2 years. The irc channel is also empty. There has been
attempts to get new developers involved without success. The old tool chain for
doing builds is lacking in updates as well.

Towards the last VL releases, VL was probably less like slackware and more like LFS... I'd be interested to know if it's worth attempting to rebuild the thing.  Unfortunately, most everyone is gone and I dont think I have a good idea what it should look like these days.  I've always been a command-line guy, so graphical desktops dont do much for me (except for wm's like awesome, ratpoison, [open/flux]box, jwm, etc)

I still poke in from time to time, although my online time is somewhat limited these days. Between family life, work and now this #$E)(*&@# pandemic, it seems my poor ol' computer collects more dust than usage.

If an honest attempt is in the works to try to bring things back to life, I'll dedicate some time to it, although it'll be more of a testing standpoint.
