To lock screen xfce4 uses xflock4 script. It tries to run either xscreensaver-command or xlock. You can edit the script or create file /usr/bin/xlock

make it executable

chmod 755 /usr/bin/xlock

Now if you want to lock screen, press the lock icon on the xfce panel. Locking the screen with kdesktop_lock allows you to easily log in as another user without closing your graphical session.

or you can also simply type:

in console when you are in xfce.So there you have it.

When I run "kdesktop_lock --forcelock" from the command line it says "bash: kdesktop_lock: command not found".

Also, I wasn't sure, are you asking that we make a file /usr/bin/xlock and put the following in it?

hi,in order to use that command you need to have kde installed on your box.I am sorry i mentioned it only in the thread's name.
Also,you can do it without creating that file.Just type the following in terminal
kdesktop_lock --forcelock

the file is only a launcher of the locker
you can lock your xfce,using kde's lock...that way you can also easily switch users .
Alternatively you can switch users with
ctrl+alt+f7,8,9 or whateva
