this is a live dvd,no? I saw articles about supergamer 1 and 2, both are based on pcLinuxOs...
I am very glad to see a supergamer VL. Grin
You guys rock.Trully.
Maybe supergamer-vl and vector-beryl/std live cd could join forces? It would be sweet if sg-vl had an installer...aaand ofcourse, the vl live cd is already with an updated version of xorg and nvidia drivers.. Tongue

I would deffinately download it later this week and start to seed.
Why dont you guys get a ftp hosting? I am sure that some linux related servers will be glad to host( and mirror) these dvds. Shocked
and may i suggest- the best RTS strategy for linux- Warzone 2100 should be included in some of the releases! (did i mention it supports multiplayer?)
http://www.linux-gamers.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=816
http://www.happypenguin.org/show?Warzone%202100
http://wz2100.net/

Another suggestion is that you put a bunch of emulators. They are very small.Like what wolvix-live cd gaming edition did:
it had scummvm+beneath a steel sky and flight of the amazon queen ,which are both considered freeware games today.BASS is a very very good adventure game.
http://www.scummvm.org/
http://www.mixnmojo.com/bss/BASS-Floppy.zip

A great multysystem emulator, that has joypad support and is very small is XE.Deffinatelly a must for a gaming dvd!
http://www.xe-emulator.com/

May i also suggest a bunch of very small shooters, which are VERY popular among the shooter games-fans and in japan (their code is open btw, they're ported for linux ):
torus trooper ,which was relesed some time ago with the E17 live cd!
http://www.emhsoft.com/ttrooper/
and more of this author are gunroar
http://www.emhsoft.com/gunroar/
and this one (a must have-its awesome!):
http://www.emhsoft.com/area2028/

why dont we announce this as vector-gaming live dvd version. It will get hits from dw for vl generally, not only this gaming edition?
Its very tempting..

Yeah, thinking the same thing. Why go inde when it could just be a VL version?

Vector Linux Uber Edition [TM] lol  Cheesy

VL 5.8 SOHO as a foundation + *nix Games + Emulators e.g psx + Wine with WinOS games preinstalled e.g. AArmy 2.8.1

That would be one seriously sweet install.  Smiley Grin In later versions have a GUI for installing WinOS games entirely noob friendly.

To be honest, as an inde distro I would torrent, seed, and tinker then then say that's nice and move on. A true Vector version would definitely say around for some time. Besides, all the above is a lot of work. I'm much rather leave the OS side of things to someone else myself and concentrate solely on the gaming side of things.

Much of the information of this can be found on the SuperGamer's forum and web site. Information regarding emulators,FTP, and such.
http://supergamer.org/forum/
http://supergamer.org/

A reason we do not name it VectorLinux Game edition is because SuperGamer is sort of a distro of it's own. In the same manner that VL is a non source based distro, the SG is sort of a non core based distro. Be assured, that since SG is using the VL core, that benefits are going back into VL from SG.
As for the DW hits, I'm sure there will be quite an increase of hits to VL. Curiosity of the core will play at hand there. But I don't bother much with the hits on there because I know for a fact of a few schemes being played out via users of some certain distros. Linspire got busted on there with their scheme, and I'm sure in time the other schemers will be picked up on as well.  Wink

Also, there's a thread on the SG forums where people can make requests and suggestions. If I could get some of you to please posts the suggestions of games and applications there, it would be great, and save a lot from having to pass between 2 or 3 separate forums. We have German language forums that is run by volunteers, so you can imagine how things can easily become scattered about. That way you might get more responses from others that read the forums there, maybe having the same thoughts on the suggestions.

A Vector Game Edition by any other name would smell as sweet, at least to me. Smiley

If Masta or Darin requests so we will, the supergamer thing is their baby. I don't see much reason to close it now.

The Headacher,
I don't see much reason to lock the thread. Getting responses on here is great. I'm just asking that requests and suggestions go onto the SuperGamer's forum.

ok just an fyi...we have made huge progress in the nvidia and ati portion of this...yes there is another test iso but I have an ati driver issue...I am going to rebuild all of the drivers again to be sure on everything and send my ati tlz out for testing to be sure it works like it is suppose to before releasing another iso...but right now the nvidia works sweet with 2 choices between legacy vs newer cards

we have everything fixed at this point...we are hoping for public test of the iso at the end of June...ati and nvidia are both supported on one iso and the iso is 4.3gb in size with the addition of a few more games

OK we ran into a snag with the americas army game not releasing the openal driver...or any driver we force it to use...there is not a good fix for this as the game is old but the latest that supported linux...it will release the driver but it takes alittle bit of time...I have minimized the effects of this but it still occurs if you play one game afterwards...I have the final iso already done with things put back the way they where and we will release the version knowing it has this bug...the update to this will be based off of soho and will not include americas army for this reason unless I find a fix that works

I rarely play games these days as I haven't the time. So normally I wouldn't be interested.  But that is cool!  I'm anxiously awaiting the release.  Great work.

ok I discovered a problem with the torrent...here is the fix...stop your torrent, grab the new torrent from our site, go to the SuperVL folder and delete the md5sum text file, restart your torrent with the new torrent you downloaded...this will fix everything and you will not loose what you already have...if you have the iso please do this for seeding....I am not sure on what happened as I checked everything at least 4 times on the md5sums and it was proper right before I made the torrent...I did reburn the iso to be sure it was good and it seems to be correct as all the changes from the last version where in here...thanks and sorry for the issue
