As I've said many times before here in the Forum, it's not nvu you want, but rather kompozer, the nvu bugfix fork. Nvu was abandoned at 1.0 in a VERY buggy state, it's developer, glazman, is said to be working on Mozilla Composer 2, as a completely different codebase, almost from scratch (you figure out how long that's likely to take... ::)). Meanwhile, kaze has been steadily squashing the bugs and releasing kompozer. After a somewhat ugly attempt to squash kompozer, glazman has recently posted that kaze is now officially working with him, though it's not quite clear if he will be working on nvu 1.x releases, or on Composer 2.

There is a binary kompozer tarball that you uncompress somewhere (I use /opt) and then just create a menu item for it. IIRC, JohnB316 was working on a VL build a while back, but I think he ran into some problems.

I've used this from time to time. It never before occurred to me to make a package of it. I agree that there's loads of other nice applications, however the word "choice" comes to mind. With that, I would have to agree that it should be a choice of among the other applications. So, now it is ...

A matter of taste. Vim is sufficient for my purposes.  :)
