Mirage is a fast and simple GTK+ Image Viewer.

Because it depends only on PyGTK, Mirage is ideal for users who wish to keep their computers lean while still having a clean image viewer.

Features:
Supports png, jpg, svg, xpm, gif, bmp, tiff, and others
Cycling through multiple images (with preloading)
Slideshow and fullscreen modes
Rotating, zooming, flipping, resizing, cropping
Saving, deleting, renaming
Custom actions
Command-line access
Configurable interface

This application requires GTK+ version 2.6.x. Other dependencies include:
PyGTK 2.6.x. If you're building it yourself, it additionally requires a C compiler (and python-dev on some distros).

I've never seen animated gif files run in an image browser in vector linux (i had to open them with opera)..and now i do. Mirage is sweet  Grin
But how do i package that thing? It is using a python script to install.
I'lltry again today. I have a fresh vl58std .

Mirage is good, but I can't find a way to get it to load an image file from the command line - something I'm hoping to use in my fluxbox themes.

Try "qiv" , available from http://www.linuxpackages.net

Besides qiv, there's also display -window root and wmsetbg. ImageMagick, which hosts display, comes with IIRC.

i also hated it so much, that i drew a little something in my oekaki:

 Grin

hanu>i remember using display,i even tried on an online script, that choses a random image from a given directory...and it works! It onens php files.
If you wanna see a random picture from the oekaki run this command:
Code:
display http://www.garbagewars.com/chan/randomimage.php

I wonder if i can make a desklet or a karamba theme that uses imagemarick to do that,hmm...

Hey that's good, I hope you're better now. I'm getting better (slowly). I think display (from image magick) works best of the options given.

Trying to get this to work within a fluxbox theme is the next step...

You had the flu for that long? Ouch. I had Martian Death Flu once and I had to stagger several miles home shortly after I contracted it...

Anyway, everything you need to know about fluxbox backgrounds and setting them:

http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/docbook/en/html/chap-bg.html

You can actually use session*rootCommand and leave out screen0, even if you have only one screen (monitor). If you add any more, the background will be the same for each one. Of course, you can put screen0 back in, then add a screen1 line to differentiate the two...

You had the flu for that long? Ouch.

Well, I'm taking my time convalescing... Still got a cough but not too bad.

Sounds horrible.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I'm in openbox at the moment but fluxbox is more my normal WM.

Cheers, Colonel Panic.

Yes, but flopping down in bed when I got home wasn't horrible at all...  Smiley
