[Solved] Bluetooth in VL 5.8 SOHO
« on: May 20, 2007, 04:22:35 pm »

I have a small problem, it seems VL 5.8 Soho does not include by default the tools for Bluetooth connection.  I installed thru Gslapt the "Bluez" related files like lib and utils.  After installing these, how would I be able to start the service?  I found somewhere in this forum that I have to setup the hcid.conf and pin and restart the "/etc/init.d/bluetooth" service.

The problem is, when I ran the "/etc/init.d/bluetooth restart" command, it shows me that it doesn't exist.

How would I be able to have my bluetooth work?

Help...!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks.

I do not have much experience with bluetooth so my help
is limited.

Give this a try:

Thanks for the reply.

I was able to somehow make my bluetooth work.

I built the following packages:
bluez-utils
bluez-firmware
bluez-hcidump
bluez-libs
openobex
kdebluetooth

One minor issue though, kdebluetooth shows message like "SDP error" that can only be solve if i run the command "hcid -s" as root.

How to solve this issue?

You could place this this at the bottom of /etc/rc.d/rc.local hcid -s
which should start the server automatically.

Please change the heading and add <Solved> to it.

Glad to see you have it working.

so hcid -s is how you start sdpd?

with packages like bluez-utils or sox how do you ascertain what are the binaries included in the package?
