Evolution on VL 5.8

Does anyone have Evolution installed and working?

I just installed it from the following repository.
http://ftp://mirror.datapipe.net/norlug/frg/frg-2.12.1/

It installed and started fine but now it locks up as soon as I start it up.

I really need evolution working on my system as all my mail is in that format.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have just found that it only happens when I put my old mail into the mail folder.

It runs fine without my backed up mail.

How do I fix this?

There are probably very few VL users that actually use Evolution, so if you don't get an answer at this forum I would try the Evolution documentation and especially their mailing lists at http://www.gnome.org/projects/evolution/ .

To add to lagagnon's post, you can also try the freerock gnome channel on IRC at #slackbuild at irc.freenode.net. At least one of the Freerock devs is normally in the room, so they should also be able to help you. Another support option is the Freerock forum at http://www.mutagenix.org/forums/

I am/was a big Evolution fan and was reluctant to use Vector 5.8 soho because I could not get evolution to work no matter what I did. I finally went to the getting started with seamonkey page  http://www.mozilla.org/docs/end-user/guide/get-started.html to see if I could get my evolution 'mbox' stuff imported. It is actually straight forward in doing so and now I am a happy vector Linux user! Don't know if you are using vector linux now or not but give it a try..I switched from being a long time PCLinuxOs user to this and am very happy!
