070407 - TeX Live

Hanumizzle has packaged TeX Live

Quote from: hanumizzle
This distribution of TeX Live was built for close compatibility with the facilities of (the now unmaintained) teTeX, which is still distributed with Slackware, IIRC.

Complementary doc package is forthcoming.

It is in the testing repository, so make sure you enable it in GSlapt before attempting to install the package.

texlive: texlive (TeX Live, modern successor to TeTeX)
texlive:
texlive: ``TeX Live is an easy way to get up and running with TeX. It provides
texlive: a comprehensive TeX system with binaries for most flavors of Unix,
texlive: including GNU/Linux, and also Windows. It includes all the major
texlive: TeX-related programs, macro packages, and fonts that are free
texlive: software, including support for many languages around the world.''

This is working for me.

Is there a reason why all the directories are named tetex rather than texlive?

I'm looking to install some additional math fonts etc. from texlive 2007, and I'm wondering whether I'd be better of starting from scratch, or if I should just install packages from the downloaded texlive-dvd...and if so, what base directory would be appropriate.

Thanks.

Uh, backwards compatibility. Actually, errno EDUMBASS (packager was a dumbass). Looks like I'll have to redo... :-*

As for your font installation question, weigh the options. Installation of Type1 and TrueType fonts in LaTeX is somewhat tedious (I don't do it enough to script it), but not really terrible. MetaFont files are very easy to install.

Hanumizzle has uploaded a revised texlive-doc package:
