Hello I have a fresh install of vector and almost everything went perfect.Even the wireless worked right away. However there is no sound .Strangely there is sound on youtube when using opera but not on the other browsers?I switched from ubuntu cause I could never get smooth dvd playback. The playback on vector is super smooth but no sound.I've had no problems with sound on ubuntu or simply mepis.I'm running on a ibm t21.      lsmod

You woulldn't get any sound from YouTube if your sound system wasn't at least partially working, so I don't suspect module problems. More like a mixer problem maybe? Can you play a normal music CD? Pop one in your drive, bott up KsCD, play it, then run KMix and play with the controls until you get sound. Any luck?

OK. You are running VL5.8 Standard. Funny that mplayer does not work for you - it is fine here. Have you done any upgrades using gslapt?
