xvidcap records at 2.78 fps with mpeg4 (divx) ....
« on: May 28, 2007, 02:47:00 pm »

how do i make xvidcap use x.264 encoder? i do see it give an option as mpeg4(divx) but aren't x.264/h.264 and divx too different specifications of mpeg4....the reason why youtube would accept my divx files and not my x.264 files. x.264 is mpeg4 part 10 or something like that...i don't remember about divx.

another thing is the videos get recorded only at 2.78 fps which make them look like time-lapse videos...i don't need too much realism....but 2.78 is too less!

my machine is an amd turion 64-bit dual core with 1gb ram. i use the powernow-k8 driver to regulate the cpu frequencies which are between 800, 1600 and 1800 MHz per core. i use KDE with the baghira window decorations.

i'd also like to ask why xvidcap closes (probably gets killed) if i enable capturin of sound. i do have another post in the forum about sound recordin...i'd like to record the videos alongwith sound piping thru the soundcard.

Try this program:
After recording convert ogg file with this command
mencoder out.ogg -oac mp3lame -ovc lavc -ofps 30 -vop scale=320:240 -o out.mpg
