I just added:
SOURCE=ftp://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/vectorlinux/veclinux-5.8/testing/
and reloaded. I have way way fewer packages listed than before I added the new repo.
What did I do wrong?  Huh

Maybe you unchecked the other standard repos?

Reboot, in a terminal run "slapt-get --clean", then run gslapt and hit "Update".
