Today wanted to give it a try again on SOHO 5.8 RC2, and this is also what you need:
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anoncvs@anoncvs.enlightenment.org:/var/cvs/e co e17/libs/efreet

But I couldn't login. So I think I'll rather try the slackE17 build than.

Just loaded the Slack package and have run into a perplexing issue. When selected from the login screen, I receive an error that states I'm trying to execute enlightement rather than enlightenment_start. xinitrc.e17 shows exec /usr/bin/enlightenment_start.

GAH! Found it, and I would have never thought to look here, either. Have to modify enlightenment.desktop.
