I cant remember why, but I needed a fortran compiler for something and one of this list did it:

The f2c files:

I am not sure about Vector, but the GCC compiler included with Slackware supports FORTRAN if you install the gcc-gfortran package
A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that works.

For me, slackware's gcc-g77 package worked fine when I needed a fortran compiler some time ago: http://packages.slackware.it/package.php?q=11.0/gcc-g77-3.4.6-i486-1
Most music on my soundcloud page was arranged in programs running on VL.

Isn't that package in the VL repositories?

Oh you're right, so it is. In that case this should get you gcc-g77:
Code: [Select]
slapt-get --install gcc-g77
